Michael D. Reynolds

Michael D. Reynolds

Teacher—in-space finalist in training, director emeritus of Chabot Space and Science Center, PhD Science Education and Astronomy, author and acclaimed speaker, Dr. Reynolds brings more experience and expertise to our group that we can list here. Mike will be our director of Astronomical Tours Enrichment Activities. With over a dozen years of experience as a planetarium director, Mike has created and presented hundreds of informative and entertaining public programs. Of interest is his recent accomplishment to develop and organize the "Dragon Skies" Chinese Astronomical Artifact Exhibit now touring the United States. Mike is the president of the Antique Telescope Society and collects and trades both Meteorites and flown space artifacts with his own very special consulting company aptly called, "Out of This World."

Michael Bakich

Michael Bakich

Michael is an associate editor of Astronomy Magazine. He also holds a degree in astronomy from Ohio State and followed it with a degree in planetarium education from Michigan State. Prior to joining Astronomy Magazine staff, Michael served as a planetarium consultant in sunny El Paso, Texas. Michael has written three books for Cambridge University Press. His first book dealt with the constellations. The planets were the focus of his second book. Michael's most recent book, The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Amateur Astronomy, (Due out in May, 2004) deals with all aspects of amateur astronomy. His experience in Planetarium science reveals that he enjoys speaking to the general public on a wide range of astronomical subjects. He is also an avid collector of rare and antique astronomy books. Michael has an enviable collection known and notable across the US for several important first editions.

Olivier "Klipsi" Staiger

Olivier Staiger

Native US born, but Switzerland resident, 'Klipsi' is known around the world as "paparazzi del cielo"! Klipsi has led several Astronomical Tours expeditions, including most recently, our Antarctic Eclipse Expedition aboard the Kaptain Khlebnikov. When not eclipse chasing, Klipsi is chasing tornadoes. Each year finds him with storm-stormchasing teams headed into the heart of storms from chasing Oklahoma to Australia. Klipsi is both exciting and excitable. He will fly anywhere to catch a glimpse of a partial, annular or total solar eclipse, organizing live web-webcasts with his finger on the pulse of the media wherever casts he goes.
