MY DAD MY HERO
A poem in memory of Melvin I. Cohen,
who passed away July 13, 2006 due to complications of PKD,
written and read by his daughter at his funeral
My Dad my hero, my inspiration my friend.
He was a man who fought to the very end.
He had courage and wisdom and most of all strength,
And would help anyone at any great length
Mel Cohen was a man who would always lend a helping hand
And will be remembered for always taking a stand.
He was courageous and strong
And in his eyes he was never wrong.
He brought me up when I was down
And would do what he could to turn my life around.
He was a man of great heart
Who always thought positive right from the start.
Dialysis transplants cancers and so much more,
Never once did he complain that he was ever sore.
My dad my hero my inspiration my friend
His soul will live on and never end.
So when you feel empty and don't understand why try to remember
Mel Cohen his smile his strength his spirit that brought him life.
